Biography:

 Early Years
Mami grew up as the second born child and only daughter of the Akiyama family, a family of spirit mediums. With the woman in the family being able to connect with the spirit world it was Mami's destiny to follow in her mother's footsteps to become the next clanleader. Mami always escaped the house and went to her aunt's house to play with Mariko. Mami's mother wasn't found of her sister, who abdicated the family clan, and didn't wanted her to effect her daughter. But Mami never wanted to be a spirit meduim to begin with. When she returned home and got punished by her mother, Shuu always cheered her up. At the age of ten Mami's love for idols started to grow and joined multiple related clubs when she entered  junior high, dreaming of becoming an idol. Mami believed she could be free from her destiny and be the person she always wanted to be.

After coming home from school one day she found her brother Shuu standing in the hallway with a girl from the Izayoi clan, Nishimura Sayuri -A girl her age she mostly fought with during clan meetings-. Shuu told Mami the two of them were engaged and would marry when Sayuri turns eighteen. Mami locked herself in her room that day, thinking about the fact her dear brother would be taken away from her.


 Before Moon Rise
One day her brother Shuu came with the idea of Mami joining Moon Rise Academy so she could live her dream. Mami hesitated at first; The academy wasn't really around the corner, meaning she wouldn't see her brother as much as she wanted. Shuu finally convinced her by telling his little sister they could call and write eachother to stay in contact. He felt she shouldn't worry too much. After having many fights with her mother Rikka gave her daughter permission to audition for the academy, thinking it would only be temporarily. Mami met up with her nieces Mariko and Sayaka -who were idols at other academies- to help her practise for the audition. When the day had come Shuu gave Mami his Magatama as a good luck charm.


 At Moon Rise

 1st Year
Mami struggled with homesickness. She practiced a lot, not wanting to let anyone down. While practicing for her debut performance Mami run out of water and got lost when she tried to search for the taps. That's when she met one of her upperclassmen, Kuwahara Chara, who was so friendly to give Mami her bottle of water. Chara also helped her with practice and choosing her coord. Later at night Mami received a call from Shuu, wishing her success. The blonde girl was happy to hear her brother's voice again, but her happy mood wouldn't stay for long. Shuu told Mami that Sayuri, his fiance, would join him as he would come and watch his little sister perform. It only reminded her of the fact that Shuu wouldn't be hers anymore.

After Mami successfully had her performance Chara invited her to form an unit together. Not much later the girls scouted their third member, Akarei Nemko -who was Mami's roommate-, and debuted as Nova Lights.

When starting the new year Mami had one of the worst days of her life. Just when she was ready to give up and return to the dorms a voice lured her further into town, finding a boy her age surrounded by people while he sang Nova Lights' unit song. Before she knew it Mami joined him and almost blew her cover. The musician later bought her a cup of tea and the two talked a little. As it was time for Mami to return to the dorms she started to panic as Kurashiki Kyouya, the boy, suggested to walk with her since it was already dark outside. Mami didn't knew what to do and abruptly told him 'no' before running off, leaving Kyouya and his younger sister Michiru at the cafe.

As she had returned to the academy she walked into her friend and roommate Nemko, who had just returned from a photo shoot. Mami told her everything what had just happened; her bad day, the beautiful voice, Kyouya's kindness. Nemko came to the conclusion her friend had a crush on the musician. What should Mami do now?
